Star Shop Award 2010

The Fabric Shop Network presented Batiks Etcetera and Sew What Fabrics with the Star Shop Award for 2010. This is the first year of their annual Star Awards.  Most quilters know about the FabShop Hops that many shops do.  The Fabric Shop Network has many programs that help their more than 1,000 members.

I’m so excited!  It was presented at the FabShop pre market dinner.  I was so nervous to get up in front of everybody.  Awards were presented in six categories.

I would like to sincerely thank all my customers, sales reps, companies, and other shops for helping me get to this place.  My shop and customers have given me so much enjoyment and challenge.  I’m ready for many more years of fun!

The Majestic Collection from Moda is here.  I love the sea blue and deep sea blue colors.  I can smell the salt water and hear the waves.  I need a beach trip!

BOM sneak peak

McKenna Ryan's Beach BOM

McKenna Ryan

B-BOM!  Lots of BOM at market.  We found several Batik Block of the Months to start in the coming 6- 8 months.  Let us know which ones you like.

The McKenna Ryan BOM pictured above will start this fall.  It is a combination of McKenna’s new Hoffman prints and batik.  It is stunning.  You are looking at pieces just pinned to a board.  It doesn’t even have a name yet!

Another BOM from McKenna Ryan is Faith, Hope, and Love.  She redid this one in batik from previous printed cotton.  Graceful Continue reading

Market day two

Mega batik shopping!  Island Batik, Timeless (tongas), Diamond batik, Moda Batik and more.  Tomorrow is Bali Fabrics and Kaufman Artisan Batiks.  Yes, this is batik heaven.

Many of you know that our shop was started in 1982 as Sew What Fabrics.  Batiks Etcetera became part of us in 1999.  Anna took the picture below in the Moda booth today.  I love it.

Day One of Shopping!

I’m in love!!!  The new Hoffman batiks are incredible.  Yes we ordered EVERY one and several bolts of many.  They are expected in September.

Meet Lonni Rossi.Anna met her in the Andover both when she was taking this photo of one of her quilts.  What talent and inspiration.  And yeah, we ordered some her designs.

Island Batik’s new block of the month is drop dead gorgeous.  WOW WOW WOW.  The Rose of Sharon blocks are winning blocks from over 800 entries from 11 countries.  I might even applique to get a quilt that beautiful!  There is so much to this deal: Alex Anderson and Ricky TIms chose the blocks that were all designed in EQ6, there will be machine embroidery designs, quilting stencils, accu-quilt dies.  Did I say WOW?  And guess what?  Batiks Etcetera will be doing this winner as a BOM.  Stay Tuned.  Oh, and part of the proceeds benefits the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative.

Time for good girls to go to sleep!  Check us out tomorrow.

Schoolhouse

Yes, you wish you were here.  Maybe you could teach me how to work this laptop and how to do

a blog.Argh!!!!!  Every time I hit shift something weird happens.

Schoolhouse is amazing – 15 sessions from 10am -6pm.  we are sooo tired. But ready to sew!  Anna and I did different sessions so we have lots to share in the coming months.  Memory kick in now!

I really loved Debbie Bowles’ session from Maple Island Quilts.  Debbie is who I want to be when I get my second chance.  She has 4 new patterns. My favorite is Jagged Edges.  Looks like pure sewing fun.  Get in the stash or buy some new fat 1/8’s or 1/4’s.  and sew, sew, sew.

Well Anna has received a chemical peel from my language.  So I’m going to bed!
