Landscape Batiks

I’m feeling the urge to do a landscape quilt.  There are some fantastic batiks just ripe for such a quilt.  I use a machine pieced curve technique that results in a softly rolling landscape.  It is where I live.  Here is an example called Rolling Hills.  I combine batik and cotton printed fabrics to get the right effect and gradation of color.

This one is supposed to hang in my office for calmness – if I ever get around to hanging it!

Another example is Down by the Sea.  This quilt is owned by one of my sisters.  It has batik, batiked lame, printed cotton, and beads.  I loved making it.

Several new batiks are scratching my landscape itch right now.  They don’t go in the same quilt but they have my imagination working overtime!  What do you think?

Stencils & Stamps

Laura Murray is one of my favorite designers.  She is so classy and has such great ideas.  She is best known to quilters for her Paintstiks book and CD.  And surprise, surprise we have it!

We also have all of Laura’s stencils and stamps.  Her starbuilder is pure genius!  It is made with her stamps and is shown behind her.  Gorgeous!

Doesn’t this make you want a play day?  I have several planned for this summer – I just need the dates….

For more inspiration go to Laura’s website at Laura Murray Designs.  Remember we offer Laura’s books, DVD’s, stencils, and stamps.  We also have a broad range of paintstiks.

We will have to schedule some paint play classes this summer.  I work on the second half of the year class schedule when I return from the next show.
